Patriots still trying to cope with absence of Gronkowski, Edelman

NH1.com

FOXBOROUGH - The Patriots are now 10-2 after dropping their last two games to the Broncos and Eagles respectively.

Injuries to key players aren't making things easier. At today's Patriot's practice, still no sign of Rob Gronkowski or Julian Edelman.

"Obviously when you lose good players it doesn't help at all but you still have to figure out a way to score points," Tom Brady said.

Sunday wasn't pretty. The Patriots saw the effects of another game without Brady's top targets. The Patriots lost to the Eagles 35-28.

It was helpful to have Danny Amendola back, but it was running back James White with a career game. He had 10 receptions, 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.

"I'm trying to excel at everything like I said, I just want to put my team in the best position to win," said running back James White. "So I'm trying to be an accountable football player."

That won't be easy this week. Opposite White will be his old teammate from Wisconsin, defensive end JJ Watt.

"I could tell as soon as he stepped on campus," White said about the potential Watt has now reached. "He's the whole package."

The three time Pro-Bowler, is already collecting accolades this season. With 59 combined tackles, he leads the league in multiple defensive categories.

The Patriots will also face Vince Wilfork who was a fan favorite of New England for 11 years. He said today that his time in the northeast "meant everything" to him.

"Great leadership on and off the field, really a smart player," said coach Bill Belichick. "[He] understood what it took to prepare and win."

And the Texans head coach, Bill O'Brien who worked as Belichick's assistant for 5 years, said today that his work with Brady doesn't give him an advantage as it was too long ago and Brady's just too good. Only 4 more games left in this season.

Kick off is 8:30 on Sunday in Houston.
