Patriots pick Florida's Easley in first round

By TOM KING Staff Writer FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Always expect the unexpected from the New England Patriots in the National Football League Draft, and Thursday night was no exception. The Patriots selected University of Florida defensive end Dominique Easley with the 29th pick in the first round. Certainly not many would have an issue with the position, as many felt New England will need defensive line depth if not now, definitely in the near future. But many projected Easley, at six-foot-2, 285 pounds, to be taken in the second or even the third or fourth rounds. Why? For the simple reason he has already had two ACL surgeries, one on each knee, the first in 2011 and another in 2013.
