Parking concerns weigh on shoppers as Concord construction continues

CONCORD - As the city Main Street redesign project continues, shoppers and business owners are feeling the stress.

“Just with parking," said Tricia Juvet, who couldn’t find a parking space. "Parking is a huge issue now, and I have to really plan my whole day around my parking space.”

All three of the city’s garages are fully functioning, but shoppers said they aren't not enough.

Even city parking attendants downtown said they’ve seen an increase in illegal parking.

However, the construction isn't irking everyone.

“I have had nothing but nice things to say about the construction," said Diane Harrison of the Brown Bag Deli. "There is definitely an increase in my breakfast sales.”

She said not only have the construction workers boosted business, but they also are helpful.

“I’ve had catering events, and they have offered to carry crafts of coffee out to my car,” Harrison said.
