Parallel parking gone wrong: Driver sends himself into side of Portsmouth business

PORTSMOUTH — A driver attempting to parallel park ended up sending themselves straight through a wall of a business in Portsmouth.

The driver allegedly mistook the gas pedal for the brake and accelerated over a sidewalk and into a building, according to Seacoastonline.

Officials responded to the area of 28 Deer Street at about 6:09 p.m. for a report of a car into a building with structural damage, police say.

The driver was not injured and officials noted that it was fortunate that no one was on the sidewalk at the time.

There is no information on the driver, but it is known they drove a Subaru Forester.

The crash destroyed a door to the business in the building and a large window adjacent to the door was shattered. They have both since been fixed, Seacoastonline reports.

The incident was classified as an accident.
