Parade was cancelled but Pepperell veterans kept on marching despite rain

PEPPERELL, Mass. - While today's Memorial Day parade was cancelled, a group of veterans decided to march despite the rain.

Pepperell Police thanked them on its Facebook page today.

"Although we weren't exactly prepared for it, we are very proud of our Pepperell veterans who decided to march the parade route this morning even though the parade was cancelled," the Facebook post said.

It also posted a quote from President Harry S. Truman: "Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude. America will never forget their sacrifices."
