Oyster River, Portsmouth High Schools considering combining some athletic teams

Oyster River Cooperative High School may face Portsmouth High School on the court this season, but the schools’ teams may join forces in the future.

According to SeacoastOnline the schools are considering combining the football and girls’ ice hockey programs.

The districts say a lack of interest in the programs means a combination could save money and the teams become viable. The New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association would have to approve the merger.

A workshop to discuss the proposal is scheduled for March.
