The small dog, known as Spot, was tied to his runner when he was attacked, his owner Ellen Smith said. The two rottweilers lived at another house in the area and had escaped their fenced-in pen, according to Barnstead Police.

The owners of the Rottweilers, Ed and Georgia Ford, were given a summons for their dog being off leash and attacking another dog.

The couple is waiting to hear on a trial date.
