Owen Labrie's name hasn't shown up yet on sex offender registry

CONCORD- Why hasn’t Owen Labrie’s name shown up into the online sex offender registry for the state of Vermont? Many are wondering.

After Labrie’s sentencing last week, the former prep school attendee’s name was searched on Google more than 700,000 times, according to the Concord Monitor.

By law, Labrie has 10 days after his sentence to register as a sex offender in the state he will reside - Vermont.

Defense attorneys stated that Labrie registered after the nation-wide trial came to a close.

Because the state of Vermont requires registration through mail, it could take a few days for Labrie’s name to show up on the public registry.

Labrie will serve his one-year sentence in Merrimack County but will remain registered in Vermont.
