Over 59,000 pounds of chicken salad recalled due to possible contamination
WASHINGTON — U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced a recall of over 59,000 pounds of a Three Ready Pac Foods chicken salad product.
Three Ready Pac Food Inc. announced the recall of around 59,225 pounds of Puro Picante Blazin' Hot Salad items which may have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
The products were produced between Jan. 17 and Feb. 17.
If eaten, the Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, which is a serious infection that can affect elderly people with weakened immune systems, pregnant women and newborns.
Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, confusion, convulsions and other effects.
Consumers who purchased the products are requested not to eat them and to throw them away or return them to the place of purchase.
