OSCE team in east Ukraine comes near shelling

The Associated Press

KIEV, Ukraine (AP) Observers from the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe say they were just 200 meters (650 feet) away from four shell-bursts in eastern Ukraine, where fighting has continued despite a cease-fire agreement.

In a statement issued late on Sunday, the OSCE's Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine said the incident came while the group was in the rebel-held city of Donetsk. The team says it saw one woman lying on the ground, and said a rebel fighter on the scene told them that four people had been killed that day.

The government has not confirmed the number of casualties.

Fighting has flared up with increasing intensity recently in Donetsk, where rebels and Kiev's troops have fought near the government-held airport despite a cease-fire declared on Sept. 5.
