Orlando massacre was 133rd mass shooting in US so far this year

Sunday’s mass shooting in Orlando ended with 49 people dead, plus the gunman.

It was the 133rd mass shooting this year in the U.S.

The Gun Violence Archive (GVA) uses the FBI definition of a mass shooting, which is defined as a single event where four or more people are shot (not necessarily killed). It does not include the shooter in the tally.

According to the GVA, a shooting has happened every day in the U.S. so far this year, making 138 total. There have been over 23,000 reports of gun shots being fired.

12,361 people have been injured by gun violence this year.

Florida has had 15 mass shootings so far this year, the most out of any other state.
