Organizers say first Gate City Marathon in Nashua was a success

NASHUA - The inaugural Gate City Marathon drew 750 runners on Sunday, with some who did the full marathon and others who participated in shorter relays, according to Great American Downtown Executive Director Paul Shea.

The race, organized by the Gate City Striders, was a qualifier for the Boston Marathon. It also featured five relay loops, which began and ended on Main Street.

The men's winner at 3:02 was Kevin McIntyre, 50, from Amherst. The women's winner at 3:28 was Yuki Chomey, 31. The top relay team was Team Fleet Feet Sports, he said.

Shea said planning is already underway for next year as they look forward to building a new annual tradition for Nashua.
