Hospitals have seen a 205 percent increase of toddlers with opioid poisoning, showing that adults aren't the only ones affected by the drug crisis.

A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association's Pediatric Publication looked at more than 13,000 hospital discharge records from 1997 to 2012, examining opioid poisonings for children ages 1 to 19.

The results showed that hospitalizations for opioid poisoning increased overall by 165 percent. Hospitalizations for kids ages 15 to 19 with opioid poisoning increased by 140 percent, while kids ages 1 to 4 saw a 205 percent increase.
