Only 4 of your Facebook friends actually care about you, study says

So you have 1,000+ Facebook friends - that makes you pretty popular, right?

Maybe not.

A new study shows that on average only four of your Facebook friends are considered part of your "social clique" - a friend they can actually depend on in times of crisis.

The Oxford University study says the average person could count just about 14 people as close friends, and it says while social networks help you keep up with acquaintances they do not increase the number of close friendships a person has.

The size of one's "social clique," was found to be consistent across all age groups between 18 and 65, in both men and women, regardless of how many friends they could boast online.
