Online meetup in Portsmouth ends in knife point robbery

PORTSMOUTH - Police responded to a possible knife point robbery at a motel early Wednesday morning, according to Seacoastonline.

The robbery began as a meet up organized via the website

The call came in on August 3 from a man who claimed to have been robbed of $150 in cash, which he intended to pay to a woman he met through backpage for goods or services that remain unclear.

However, the suspect of the robbery is a man who robbed him outside an America's Best Inns location on Woodbury Avenuebefore getting in a light colored vehicle with four doors, and driving towards the highway.

Backpage has been connected with prostitution charges in the past.
