Online fire permit website boosts NH sales

The Associated Press

CONCORD (AP) — New Hampshire forest rangers say a system that makes it easier for New Hampshire residents to get fire permits is growing in popularity.

The state Division of Forest and Lands created an online fire permitting system last fall, and more than 100 communities have signed up. Residents of participating towns and cities can go to nhfirepermit.com to review the rules for open burning and obtain a permit for campfires and bonfires of brush.

The permits cost $3. For those who live in towns that haven't signed up or those who don't want to use the online system, written fire permits are available at no charge from forest fire wardens in each community
