One of two men charged after assault of Macy's employee in Nashua

NASHUA - A Macy's employee who tried to stop two men from walking out without paying for clothing was punched and kicked as the men fled, according to police.

One man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Police say the theft took place on Nov. 13 at the Macy's in the Pheasant Lane Mall. A loss prevention employee told police he saw the two suspects select multiple items of clothing and enter the changing rooms. They then walked out of the store without paying, he said. When the employee tried to stop them, one of the men allegedly punched him in the face and pushed him into a wall. The second suspect allegedly kicked him in the ribs before fleeing.

Using surveillance video, police say they identified one suspect as Dominick Montalvo, 21, of 9 Thayer Court #2 in Nashua. He was arrested on Wednesday and charged with robbery and resisting arrest. Police say he tried to hide in a closet and refused to come out, leading to the charge of resisting arrest.

Montalvo was held at the Hillsborough County jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in the 9th Circuit Court of Nashua.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 589-1665.
