One of NH's most well-known veterans, Griffin Dalianis, died

CONCORD — Griffin Dalianis, a well-known veteran and husband of New Hampshire Supreme Court Chief Justice Linda Dalianis, has died at age 73.

A court spokeswoman says Dalianis died at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua on Thursday morning.

Dalianis has fought multiple battles with serious illness over the past several years, according a statement issued by NH’s Supreme Court Justices Gary Hicks, Carol Ann Conboy, Robert Lynn and James Bassett.

Dalianis, of Nashua, led the state's Veterans Advisory Committee for 10 years and worked on a Veterans Administration committee during President George W. Bush's administration. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

"We have admired his courage as well as Chief Dalianis’s love and commitment to him during these struggles. Griffin leaves behind a rich legacy of public service to both New Hampshire and our nation. We will remember him as a tireless advocate for our homeless and disabled veterans. Through his work as New Hampshire’s Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, Granite State veterans have always had a true friend, as have we,” read the statement.
