One man's trash, another man's treasure; Durham's annual Trash 2 Treasure event continues
DURHAM (AP) — Last year's leftovers have been turned into this year's dorm furnishings at the University of New Hampshire, where a massive yard sale is being held on Saturday and Sunday.
The university's Trash 2 Treasure group collects discarded items from students moving out in the spring, and students spend the summer cleaning, testing, sorting and pricing the items. The goal is to keep items out of dumpsters and keep students and their parents from having to spend a lot of money on new furnishings every year.
The yard sale, being held at the UNH Whittemore Center Arena through Sunday, will feature thousands of items, including furniture, electronics, refrigerators, clothing, and room decor.
