ERROL - One man is dead and another man injured and charged with negligent homicide after a pickup truck crashed on Route 16 on Thursday night.
Police say Stephen Bagley, 48, of Roslindale, Mass., was fatally injured in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the truck, Michael Sheehan, 49, of Foxborough, Mass., was seriously injured and taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital and later transported to a Boston hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Before he was moved to Boston, he was formally charged with negligent homicide while at Androscoggin Valley Hospital and released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail.
Police say the crash happened right around 8:30 p.m. in an area known as 13 Mile Woods when the truck, a Ford F-250 headed north, went off the west side of the road and hit several trees, coming to rest on the passenger side. Sheehan was found outside the vehicle.
Route 16 was closed for about six hours on Thursday night as police conducted their investigation. Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash but it remains under investigation.
