MECHANIC FALLS, ME - About a dozen people were seriously injured on a hayride Saturday night after the tractor pulling it reportedly tipped over.
Hannah Morrissey was waiting in line to get on the next "Gauntlet" hayride at Pumpkin Land when the accident happened. Morrissey tells NH1 News that security guards told ticketholders the hayride "flipped" and to return to the main gate for a refund. The attraction is now closed for the evening, according to reports.
Morrissey posted a photo to Twitter showing multiple ambulances and a medical helicopter on-scene.
Officials said 15 people were hurt, and that 2 of them were taken by medical helcopter.
Another witness said ambulances were driving into the woods to assist those injured, a majority of whom were reported to be teenagers.
The helicopters landed at Harvest Hill Farms, where Pumpkin Land is located. The attraction is off Rte. 26 on Pigeon Hill Road.
According to the attraction's website, the ride has strobe lights and fog machines.
The cause of the incident was not immediately known Saturday evening.
Mechanic Falls is about an hour outside of Portland, ME.
