Officials still unsure what caused Concord fire that killed man, displaced UNH students

Officials say they may never pinpoint what ignited the blaze that killed a 60-year-old Concord man earlier this month.

Fire investigator Tom Schutzius told the Concord Monitor that multiple items could have caused the blaze, but heavy damage made identifying the source difficult.

Nine people escaped the fire, three of whom were UNH Law students. The lone victim was Kevin Curdie, who was recovered from his first floor apartment.

Firefighters responded to the four-unit complex at 96 Rumford St. shortly after 3 a.m. to control and contain the blaze.
