Officials respond to accident, witness another on Rt 93 in Canterbury

CANTERBURY — Police were responding to a single car crash on Route 93 southbound when they witnessed a second crash just north of the first.

Manuel Dejesus, 34, of Northwood, was driving his Ford pickup truck was his truck left the roadway, sideswiped 27 feet of guardrail, and hit a tree in the center median. There were two passengers in his truck.

Dejesus and one of the passengers suffered minor injuries. The third passenger was trapped and fire and rescue workers had to help get him free. He was transported to the Concord hospital with multiple injuries.

While emergency responders were working to free the one passenger, a second crash occurred just north of the first one.

Jacob MacDonald, 21, of Plymouth, Mass., was issued a summons after he rear ended another vehicle driven by, David Maciel, 75, of Gilmanton. Maciel's vehicle sustained major damage, police say.

MacDonald allegedly was speeding, inattentive, and following too closely. He received a summons for following too closely, according to state troopers.
