Officials investigating death of mother at home after little girl found wandering in PJs

GRAFTON, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are investigating the death of a 36-year-old mother at her home in Grafton.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early said Wednesday Kelly Sugarman was found in a bedroom of a single family home. Her husband, Michael Sugarman, was found in the kitchen with a knife "protruding" from his neck. He was taken to the hospital.

Early declined say how Kelly Sugarman died, pending the results of an autopsy by the medical examiner's office. But he said murder charges against Michael Sugarman are anticipated.

Police say they were led to the house after finding the couple's young daughter wandering nearby in her pajamas. Early said the girl, who is now in state custody, told officers that "mommy is sick" and "mommy is asleep."
