Officials airlift NH man facing serious injuries after ATV crash

SUCCESS - A Gorham man was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries following an ATV crash.

Multiple agencies responded to the crash on a sanctioned trail Saturday shortly before 4 p.m.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Jason May, 28 of Gorham, crashed the ATV that he was riding into a tree in the area of Sterns Brook along the Success ATV trail. May encountered other members of his riding party, who rendered aid and called 911.

Officials initially took May from the scene by Berlin Ambulance to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. At the hospital, May was then transferred to a DHART helicopter and taken by air to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon for further evaluation and treatment of serious injuries.

Authorities believe speed and intoxication contributed to the crash. Criminal charges are pending.
