Obama campaigns in Maine, avoids spat over Ebola

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine (AP) President Barack Obama is rallying Maine Democrats to get out and vote next Tuesday, urging them to take friends and co-workers to the polls too.

Obama is headlining a rally in Portland for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud (MEE'-shoh). The six-term congressman is trying to unseat Republican Gov. Paul LePage in a neck-and-neck race that will be decided Tuesday.

Independent candidate Eliot Cutler is running a distant third.

Obama says Michaud, a former state lawmaker, knows how to bring Democrats and Republicans together.

He says Michaud fights every day to make sure the people of Maine see their hard work pay off.
