Nothing suspicious found after bomb threat at Amherst Middle School
AMHERST - Police said nothing suspicious was found after a bomb threat at Amherst Middle School on Friday morning.
Police said a message was found on a chalkboard at Amherst Middle School saying there was a bomb in the building. The message was found at about 8:45 a.m. Friday.
Officials evacuated the school while police and fire officials responded. The first search of the building revealed nothing suspicious.
A second search of the building was conducted with the help of the New Hampshire State Police and a canine, trained in the detection of explosives, which confirmed the absence of any explosive devices.
Through the combined efforts of students, staff and the School Resource Officer, a middle school student was quickly identified and interviewed as a potential suspect. That student admitted to having left the message as a hoax.
