Northwood mother faces charges after overdosing, driving truck with her kids into swamp

NORTHWOOD — A local woman faces charges after overdosing and crashing a pickup truck with her husband and two sons inside.

According to the Union Leader, Emmy-Lee McNeil, 28, has been charged with aggravated DWI. Her two sons, ages 8 and 10, and her husband were not injured.

Police Chief Glen Drolet said McNeil and her husband, Eric McNeil, 32, allegedly were using drugs and alcohol earlier in the evening, and about 8:30 p.m. decided to go to the grocery store with the boys.

As McNeil was driving, Drolet said the drugs took effect and she overdosed, losing control of her Toyota Tacoma truck and driving into a swamp off Harmony Road.

Her husband got the two kids out of the truck and went to a nearby home to call for help, Drolet said.

Paramedics administered Narcan to Emmy-Lee McNeil, who was taken to the hospital for further treatment, Drolet said.

Eric McNeil also was taken to the hospital for evaluation. The children were uninjured and released to relatives.

Drolet said the McNeils will be facing additional charges, including endangering the welfare of a child.
