MANCHESTER - Neighbors in the North End woke up to police tape, cruisers lining the streets and a small memorial of flowers marking where a neighbor first discovered the body of the 62-year-old woman.
"You could see the body. From our perspective you could see her feet,” said Steven Harvey who lives on Ray Street in Manchester’s North End.
Neighbors say the man who discovered the body was a doctor, and by the time he saw Denise Robert’s body, he knew it was too late.
They're still trying to process what happened. Robert was simply out, enjoying her Sunday evening walk.
"The guy up around the corner was putting his trash out upon carpenter shop and he heard the shot and he heard the screeching," Harve said.
It was just a usual Sunday night for the neighborhood.
“Walkers jogger’s people with their dogs," said Fred Chagnon, who’s lived in the neighborhood for years. "It’s just about the normally safest place to do walking and stuff like that.”
"I feel really bad i feel really bad that the neighborhood has to be shaken up with his shake it up like this,” said Dave Spahn, after learning of Robert’s passing.
The New Hampshire Union Leader also had to come to grips after losing one of their own. Robert worked in advertising.
“No one cared more about neighborhood news and the New Hampshire Union Leader than Denise Robert," said Steve Pare, the Union Leader’s Advertising Manager. "She worked tirelessly and cared deeply about her customers and co-workers. Her memory will live on and she’ll be deeply missed but never forgotten."
Police are looking for home surveillance footage or anyone who may have seen Robert in the neighborhood around 9 p.m. on Sunday.
Manchester police say no tip is too small.
