North Conway police make 1arrest, looking for 1 suspect in home break-in, assault

NORTH CONWAY - Police said they have arrested one man who allegedly broke into an apartment and assaulted a man while the other is still on the loose and is assumed to be armed and dangerous.

Police responded to the home at 177 Grove St. at about 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The caller, a friend of the man who was assaulted, said two male individuals forced their way into the home and allegedly threatened the caller with a gun while the other assaulted the resident of the apartment. Both suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

The man who lived at the apartment had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police said they determined the identities of the suspects to be Charles Thomas, 23, and Jared Silva, 21. Thomas was arrested by State Police Department in Madison on Thursday. He is being charged with second-degree assault, criminal trespassing and criminal mischief.

Silva is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anybody with information on his whereabouts should contact the Conway Police Department at (603) 356-5715.
