NH1 Weather Insider with Joe Joyce: May 20, 2015

NH1 Chief Meteorologist - NH1.com

The cold front has passed and a cooler day overall for Wednesday is expected. Temperatures range about 15 degrees cooler compared to Tuesday where high ranged from 75-80. Wednesday will see temperatures only in the 50's through the north country to the Lakes region. Farther south, high temperatures will climb into the Lwr-mid 60's by afternoon. The day will start off with some sunshine, but building clouds are likely by the midday. Any clouds are along with another weak front which will push off the coast Wednesday and bring even cooler air which will settle in overnight with lows in the 30's in the cold spots. Winds will be active Wednesday with frequent gusts from the WNW at 25-30 mph as the cooler air settles in. Don't worry about all this talk of "cool". This is not winter any more! Cool is just another word for refreshing now and low humidity!

A trough in the upper levels of the atmosphere will push south across the Northeast and suppress any summer heat from returning through the end of the week, right into the start of the Memorial day weekend. Weak disturbances will fly around the base of this trough with periodic weak fronts which will come with a few clouds and just reinforce the comfortably cool air in the 60's and Lwr 70's.

Another cool shot will come in Friday night and Saturday. Saturday will have highs ranging from 60-65 degrees and still plenty of sunshine to go around. The trough will lift away from the northeast by Sunday as an upper level ridge will shift up into the Northeast with a return of warmer, more typical summer warmth to help end this unofficial kick off to summer on a very good note! It looks like a great weekend for a cookout as temperatures will climb into the 70's Sunday. A warm front will approach late on Monday with the risk of a few scattered showers or T'storm with highs still warm in the 70's nearing 80 possibly. The extended outlook is looking warm to end out the month of May, so if you are looking for some beach weather, you should be in luck! Looking for rain? Not so much unfortunately....at least through the weekend!
