NH1 Weather Insider with Joe Joyce: May 2, 2015

The weekend is here and so is a complete change in the weather pattern! It is hard to believe, but we are finally going to have a prolonged stretch of significant warmth so many of have been craving for so long. It will be the warmest air we have seen since last October. It has been a cool snowy April in the mountains. Mt Washington picked up 55" of snow this month, with 23 or 30 days seeing measurable snowfall. Well, even those snow covered mountains are going to start a big meltdown this week.

Our cool pool of air which has sat over us for the past week, keeping cooler than normal temperatures and abundant cloud cover in place, is finally pulling away. Upper level ridging will be shifting toward the east coast this weekend with building high pressure at the surface. With the high south of New England, Light, but warmer SW winds will direct warmer air into New Hampshire. The 7 Day forecast clearly shows a quiet stretch of above normal temperatures. In fact, the feel of summer will be with us for the next several days. Sea breezes will help to keep it a bit cooler at the beaches with warmer temperatures inland. The warm dry conditions will mean the Pollen season will go into full "Beast Mode" this week as everything will suddenly go into bloom at once.

After a nice weekend, Monday will likely be the warmest of the bunch with highs nearing 80 degrees. SW winds will become breezy ahead of a weak cold front which will push through early Tuesday without much to it. I guess we have the chance for a shower or thunderstorm, but if you blink you will miss it! The best chance of showers with this front will come Tuesday afternoon across southern New England. We will be right back into the sunshine for the midweek with building high pressure behind this front. Wednesday and Thursday look incredibly nice. A late week surge of warmth will be possible by Friday into Saturday with highs climbing to the Lwr 80's. Soak it in New Hampshire! Have a great weekend!
