NH1 Weather Insider with Joe Joyce: August 15, 2015

NH1 Chief Meteorologist

The weekend is here and the feeling is alright! Partly sunny skies for Saturday and a more humid feel to the air with a light SW wind. Highs will be in the Lwr-mid 80's during the afternoon. A weak front will push into New Hampshire and will help to trigger widely scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Most of the day will be dry and any shower which does form will be brief and passing. So please do not even spend a minute wondering when these showers will happen...because the chances are you may not even see them. Just focus on having a fine day outside, though keep an eye on the sky if those clouds start to darken.

The front will push offshore Saturday night with clearing skies and lowering humidity into Sunday. Once the sun comes up Sunday, temps will quickly be on the rise. What an amazing summer day Sunday will be. Sunshine, light west winds, somewhat less humid with highs in the 80's to near 90. It will be sunny from mountain to the beaches, so make sure you have your plan and make the best of the day as there will not be many more like it.

High pressure will continue to wrap in warmer and more humid air for Monday and Tuesday where highs will feel a bit warm near 90-95 degrees. 3 consecutive days at or above 90 and we will have ourselves a bonafide heat wave! We will definitely be flirting with it. In fact we are moving into a stretch will be our most prolonged heat and humidity of the summer. By midweek, the most intense heat will have faded slightly...but highs will still be in the mid-upper 80's and humid. So that will not be much relief. While Tuesday & Wednesday each will have a risk of a shower or T'storm....it looks like Thursday will will be our best chance of showers or thunderstorms with a cold front which could bring in a less humid airmass for the end of the week. Have a great weekend!
