CONCORD - If you are looking for warmer temperatures, Thursday will see highs climbing into the 50's.

Unfortunately, this warm up will be coming with rain. A strong low will be tracking from the Great Lakes and eventually North & West of New England Thursday. A moist mild flow up the east coast will come with a period of heavy rain and gusty winds.

Rain will start off light in the morning, with steadier rain developing by the midday. Heavy downpours will move from the Mid-Atlantic states and into New England for the mid-late afternoon hours. This will likely come with a few embedded thunderstorms and could impact the evening commute on Thursday.

Widespread rainfall totals of 1- to 1.5 inches of rain is likely with localized heavier amounts. These downpours will make for big puddles on the roads and some hazardous travel for a few hours. A high wind watch is in effect for the Seacoast from 3 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday for gusty SSE winds up to 40-50 mph.

The rain will be pulling away Thursday night, and then we will be turning our attention to a colder weekend ahead. We will have the latest on NH1.com or watch us on WBIN-TV NH1 News.
