NH1 Weather Insider with Joe Joyce: April 28, 2015
It is hard to believe, but yes, we are still talking about the same old weather pattern! Yes, I warned you about this slow moving upper low pressure center with cooler than normal air and abundant cloud cover...but that still does not make it any better. At least it is dry! Tuesday will be much more of the same. The upper low will be parked east of New England supplying cooler than normal air and a breeze from the NW. Highs will once again be stuck in the 50's and Lwr 60's. Once again, the brightest time of the day will be the morning with clouds filling in during the afternoon. If we get more significant sunshine, we will have a better chance of climbing into the Lwr 60's, but the way this pattern has been...I would expect to stay cool in the 50's.
The low will try to swing away later Tuesday only to be directed back into Nova Scotia with more clouds to wrap back into New England Wednesday with winds shifting from the NW to the NE. It is a dry midweek with highs climbing into the Lwr 60's. On Wednesday, a low will be coming out of the Gulf of Mexico and deepening off the Carolina coastline Thursday. This low will track south of New England, but cool ENE will be coming in off the water for Thursday Friday with low clouds increasing. We will have to watch the track of the developing low, as it could make a close pass to New England as a strong storm. All of our models have it missing, but it could be closer that we may like early Saturday. A closer pass would mean stronger winds for the Cape & Islands...
Once that low tracks away from New England, improving weekend weather is likely with warming temperatures. The jetstream is showing of flattening, with a ridge developing in the eastern half of the nation. This will allow warmer air to build and arrive in the Northeast. Next week will make a serious push towards the 70's!
The Climate Prediction Center agrees with this prediction as their 6-10 day outlook shows the pronounced warm outlook between the dates of May 3rd-May 7th for the northern portion of the nation. Suddenly...it will be summer!
