NH1 Weather Insider: Weather Jackpot
NH1 Chief Meteorologist
I am going to keep this one short and sweet as the weather is about to become really calm and beautiful just in time for the Holiday weekend. As promised, a few thunderstorms pushed through today with heavy downpours and some localized wind damage. A microburst may have happened in Deerfield on Mount Delight Road where a dozen trees were brought down in someone's back yard. Other than that report, luckily not much more damage being reported by spotters on the ground.
A cold front is pulling off the coast. High pressure will be slowly drifting eastward and providing for several days of sunshine and seasonal temperatures in the 70's and Lwr 80's. Even the beaches will be comfortable in the 70's with light west winds coming in off the land. A weak front may try to push through over the weekend...it may come with a few clouds, but it will be moisture starved so it is a dry stretch which will take us right into next week. High pressure will still control the weather over us with temperatures becoming warmer starting Sunday and continues Monday, Tues and Wednesday with highs climbing into the Lwr-mid 80's.
It is a full Thunder Moon illuminating the evening skies this weekend. This July will have two full moons! A rarity which has not happened since August of 2012. A second full moon in one month is know as a Blue Moon! That will happen on July 30th. And of course Jupiter and Venus continue their dance the NW sky after sunset. The only thing I can complain about is the days are getting short as we are slowly starting to tilt away from the sun. From the 1st of July to the 30th....we will lose about 45 minutes of total daylight. Oh well. There will be tons of sun to enjoy this weekend so make to bring the sunscreen, the sunglasses, the water where ever you chose to be this weekend! Be safe and God Bless America!
