NH1 Weather Insider: We're seeing a brief summer surge

NH1 Chief Meteorologist - NH1.com

A cold front is kicking off the coast today, but no cold air will be coming though with it's passage. Scattered showers passed through New Hampshire overnight night along this front which actually marks the leading edge of a warmer airmass which will settle in across the region for Thursday and Friday with a warm wind direction from the WSW. Early clouds are possible at dawn Thursday with the proximity of this passing front, but skies will quickly fill with sunshine Thursday as highs will climb into the mid 80's for most location, with even a chance of climbing into the upper 80's for a few locations across SNH like Hollis, Nashua, Salem.

Weak high pressure will slide over us Friday with sunny to partly sunny skies and highs ranging around 85-90 degrees with moderate humidity. The high will eventually break down with a warm front coming back towards during the afternoon. This could bring in some increasing afternoon clouds and my even trigger a late day t'storm across the interior. Weak low pressure will then ride along this stalled front in place across New England Friday Night and track right over us. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will move through Friday night through early Saturday morning.

Even though the morning may start off cloudy and damp, I expect conditions to rapidly improve Saturday with a cold front sweeping the showers off shore. Winds will shift to a breezy cooler NW wind direction and clearing skies with increasing afternoon sunshine will be likely on Saturday with highs in the 70's near 80. A nice break from the summer warmth. High pressure will slide right over us for a remarkable beautiful day on Sunday with sunshine, low humidity, light wind and highs in the 70's and Lwr 80's.

Monday will be another fine day with warm SW winds for the interior and a seabreeze will be possible at the coast. Another wave of low pressure will approach to make for another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday night into Tuesday. Overall, some very nice weather to enjoy, with a few chances of rain, and not much severe weather likely for the moment.
