NH1 Top 5: The best ice cream places in Concord

It may be early, but here at NH1 we're already looking forward to warmer days.

This edition of the NH1 Top 5 helps navigate you to the best scoop of ice cream in Concord.

5) Friendly's North Main Street and Loudon Road

With the option to sit down or order from the takeout window, Friendly's boasts one of Concord's most expansive sundae lists. Friendly's also offers a variety of milkshakes, which they call "Fribbles." The ice cream is well-portioned and there are plenty of flavor varieties.

4) Granite Candy Shoppe on Warren Street

The Granite Candy Shoppe has a variety of gourmet ice cream scoops available to customers. A variety of specialty scoops are available with gourmet toppings. Its location makes it even better, grab a scoop and walk around historic downtown Concord.

3) Summer Freeze on Fisherville Road

Looking for gigantic ice cream portions? Go no further than Summer Freeze. Summer Freeze has soft serve and hard ice cream with a variety of classic flavors. Even the "small" is a sizable portion.

2) Ballard's on Broadway

The employees wear conductor hats and the ice cream selection is vast. There are plenty of soft serve selections as well as many hard ice cream house specialties. Ballard's is a must-try if in Concord.

1) Arnie's on Loudon Road

A Concord classic. Maybe it's something about the setup, maybe it's location, maybe it's because many Concord residents have been going there for years, but one thing is for certain: the ice cream is delicious. You'll see long lines during the summer and customers wearing sweatshirts in the early and late season to grab that first or last cone.
