NH1 Top 5: Summer movies we're waiting (not so) patiently for

NH1 has compiled a list of the top 5 movies we are looking forward to watching. We've come up with a mix of fun summer thrill rides and gripping nonfiction films.

5. Ant-Man - July 17

Former conman-turned-superhero Scott Lang acquires the power to shrink in size, but increase in strength in this upcoming Marvel film. Watch the trailer for this surprisingly promising film. Our guess: we can look forward to plenty of action with an eye for the slapstick possibilities of Ant-Man's comical powers.

4. Inside Out - June 19

We all have voices inside our head. And all of ours are stoked to see an original story from Pixar again (after all those sequels - except Toy Story 3. We'd never say anything bad about Toy Story 3). The idea behind the flick explores the emotions of a young girl and their interactions with each other. With stars like Amy Poehler and Bill Hader, we're really excited.

3. Jurassic World -

We have no illusions, here. This is another re-hashing of the Jurassic Park premise. But this time, Chris Pratt plays a behavioral researcher for velociraptors. We see clips of him training them, and hopping on a motorcycle to lead the raptors through the jungle like English hunting hounds. Surely that's worth the ticket price.

2. Straight Outta Compton - Aug. 14

This film tracks how a hip hop group rocketed from the dangerous streets of Compton, Calif., to revolutionize the music industry. You probably know them as N.W.A. This promises to be a movie about music, culture conflicts, and untold stories. Even if you're not a fan of rap, the history of a pop culture phenomenon should be able to lure you in.

1. Black Mass - Sept. 18

OK, this might be a little late to say "summer movie" but we're so excited about it, we're rolling with it. It's the story of America's most notorious gangster comes to life in Black Mass. The trailers have given us a glimpse of Johnny Depp as Whitey Bulger, with all the menace, charm and eloquence for which the South Boston criminal was known.
