NH1 Radio Interview: Shaheen talks Sullivan County, economy, jobs

As the campaign for U.S. Senate enters its final days, Senator Jeanne Shaheen talked extensively about the differences between her and Republican challenger Scott Brown in a one-on-one interview with NH1 Radio News Director Jeff Wade.

The morning after the final televised debate of the campaign, Shaheen's camp had quickly pivoted and planned a stop in Sullivan County Friday afternoon. Her visit followed a stop by Brown in the County, as both sides tried to spin Brown's response to a question about Sullivan County in last night's debate.

In the debate, moderator James Pindell pressed Brown on his answer to a question about Sullivan County's economic challenges, as they disagreed whether it was north or west of Concord. Pindell later admitted that Brown referring to the county as "north" of Concord was technically accurate.

While not directly referencing the geography dispute, Shaheen maintained that she had a better understanding of the challenges facing Sullivan County, referencing the need to stimulate the tourism industry and later offering support for a minimum wage increase.

Shaheen also voiced support for Governor Hassan's policy on quarantines for health workers who have been in contact with Ebola patients in west Africa. Brown had supported mandatory quarantines, simliar to the military's policy, during an NH1 Radio interview on Wednesday.
