PORTSMOUTH – Donald Trump will return to New Hampshire next weekend, his second trip to the state in October and his sixth since July’s Republican National Convention.

The Trump campaign made official on Sunday what NH1 News had caught wind of a couple of days earlier, that the GOP presidential nominee will headline a noon time rally next Saturday Oct. 15 at Toyota of Portsmouth on Route One.

The location should be familiar to Trump. He headlined an event there hosted by former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown in January, in the weeks leading up to New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary. A rival for the nomination, Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, also held a rally at the dealership a couple of weeks later.

The trip next weekend to Portsmouth will be Trump’s eighth to the Granite State since Trump clinched the GOP nomination in May. By contrast, Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s made only one trip to New Hampshire since July’s Democratic National Convention and only two since clinching the nomination in June. In both of her visits, she was accompanied by her main rival primary Democratic primaries, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, who crushed Clinton in New Hampshire’s February primary.

The Clinton campaign announced on Sunday that First Lady Michelle Obama would make her visit campaign trip to New Hampshire on behalf of the Democratic nominee. That visit will occur on Thursday.

The state’s four electoral votes are considered crucial, as New Hampshire’s one of around ten battleground or swing states across the country that are up for grabs in the November election.
