SANBORNTON - Buying online?
There's always a chance you might not get what you want.
And that's exactly what happened to one Sanbornton woman.
And apparently she's not the only one who has had problems with this online company.
Phay Miller went shopping on the site carid.com back in April.
A little more than 7 months later, she says she’s endured a customer service nightmare.
“See how far away it is?” says Phay as she shows us the cargo liner she bought. “It's supposed to be at least up to here.”
And as we saw for ourselves, it wasn’t.
Carid.com is an online store where you can buy auto parts and accessories.
So Phay shelled out more than a hundred bucks, never thinking one purchase would turn out so badly.
When we asked her how many times she called and emailed the company, she said, “Oh my goodness. Too many to count. I feel like the secretary.”
She also showed us a series of emails from carid.com. One of them dating back to June that promised a replacement.
We emailed and called the company last night and within 12 hours, we received a response.
They admitted they "should have ordered the replacement or provided a refund immediately.”
But according to one website, they've been wrong before.
On one website, sitejabber.com, more than 500 people reviewed the company.
The company received 400 negative reviews and slightly more than 100 positive reviews.
Some people on the site used words like "fraudulent,” "nightmare," and “stay away” while others said the company had “great products and service,” “perfect,” and “excellent.”
In the meantime, Phay says she'll think twice next time before buying anything online especially anything from carid.com.
“They can't just take somebody's money and not have customer service,” Miller says. “I mean it's absolutely ridiculous.”
Carid.com also promised Phay a $25 gift card as a token of their appreciation as well as a replacement cargo liner but both have concerns she’ll have the same problem.
We’ll keep you posted.
