MANCHESTER – Running for the White House is a very demanding and draining process. Most presidential candidates won’t admit how taxing the ordeal can be.

John Kasich isn’t one of those candidates.

The Ohio governor and GOP presidential contender told NH1 News that “I’ve had some energy drains here in the last few days,” adding that “I’m a little disappointed that I’ve had any energy drain.”

But Kasich went on to say that “I’m doing really well and I’m having a good time.”

Kasich spoke with NH1 News on Monday prior to a business roundtable in Manchester, a couple of hours before he joined 13 other Republican presidential candidates at the Voters First forum. Kasich’s been rising in both national and Granite State polls since launching his presidential campaign a couple of weeks ago.

Here’s what Kasich, who’s long been known to speak his mind, told NH1 News:

“I gotta get up here and do all these meetings. Then I gotta raise money, do all that. Then I had to announce, and make sure I had a good announcement. Then, ‘how’s he going to do in the polls’ and all that. It’s everything is one thing after another and I think if you get too fixated on any one thing, it will drain energy from you. And frankly I’ve had some energy drains here in the last few days, just thinking about things. But I’m a little disappointed that I’ve had any energy drain. Just thinking about many things coming at me. Not just that. Many things. And you know you try your best and frankly at the end of the day, once you try your best, in my opinion the lord’s in charge. And that means you have faith that it will all work out for the best. And when I don’t keep that in mind, it doesn’t go as well as when I do. Now there’s an interview that you’re not going to get from anybody else. But you know I’m doing really well and I’m having a good time and you know what, I am so appreciating the fact that in my lifetime I am a legitimate candidate for president of the United States. And you know what, that’s pretty awesome, pretty remarkable. Love it, don’t worry about it.”
