NH1 News Exclusive: Family of Manchester shooting victim speaks out

MANCHESTER – As the Manchester Police Department continues its investigation into Tuesday night’s shooting, we’re now hearing from the victim’s family.

Francis Keltina - cousin of victim Isaaz Velez, 19 of Hooksett - is speaking out.

Velez was shot in the stomach near the intersection of Beech and Bell streets just outside Gill Stadium and rushed to the Elliott Tuesday night.

“It's crazy,” Keltina said. “I couldn't do nothing but cry about it. I wasn't there to help him.”

Keltina did say that Velez is in a gang - but even so, doesn't deserve to get shot.

“It broke my heart,” Keltina said. “Couldn't do nothing but cry and make sure pray for him and stuff and make sure he gets through this.”

Back in the summer, the police arrested Velez in connection with another shooting on South Street in Manchester, and he was later charged with reckless conduct.

In the meantime, all the family can do is wait.

“Making sure he gets to walk again,” Keltina said. “See another day.”

As of last check, no word on Velez’s condition.
