I'm Paul Quitadamo for NH1 Sports and this is my take.
You may have seen the video of ESPN reporter Britt McHenry verbally lambasting the clerk at a towing company in a way that would have the writers of the movie Mean Girls taking notes for the sequel.
In case you missed it here are the highlights.
Now to be fair I will tell you that the towing company released the tape which some say is edited AND they're being investigated for unscrupulous towing.
Under pressure from all the social media backlash ESPN suspended McHenry for a week and that had many folks tweeting that's not enough and termination was the only acceptable outcome.
There was a minority that felt McHenry should be given a second chance and that we all lose our temper and if she was just some average Joan this would be a non issue.
Here's my take. I'd support McHenry 100 % if she ripped into the clerk about the companies questionable ethics and even riddle the tirade with some very salty expletives.
But I don't see how the clerks education, dental hygiene and weight had anything to do with her car being towed.
McHenry's goal was to belittle and insult the clerk all while making herself appear to be superior.
Instead she humiliated herself and ESPN. I think she's lost sight of what a privilege it is that you folks allow us into your homes.
You, Ms. McHenry are living proof of something my mother once told me. She said that even the most beautiful people can become ugly by simply opening their mouths.
That's my take, what's yours? Email it to email@example.com or leave a comment below.
