NH1 FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Storm brings messy mix to northern NH, slick roads cause accidents

The Associated Press

A messy storm with a wintry mix of snow, sleet, ice and rain has swept across New Hampshire and northern New England, creating slippery driving conditions.

But the problems are going to be fleeting.

The National Weather Service says 1 to 3 inches of snow fell Wednesday before it began turning into freezing rain and rain. Eventually, it's going to turn into heavy rain.

Brown says the rain will wash away the new fallen snow as the mercury rises to upward of 50 degrees Thursday in parts of the region.

New Hampshire transportation officials reported several highway crashes overnight and early Wednesday morning, but most speed restrictions were lifted by 9 a.m.
