NH1 First Alert Weather: It's going to get hot in NH by the end of the week
As high pressure builds into New England today it will provide us with a good deal of warm sunshine and rather comfortable levels of humidity. This High will drift off our east coast through tomorrow so that means a nice comfortable and coolish night for sleeping tonight followed by an even warmer day temperature-wise tomorrow. Highs Monday & Tuesday will be in the mid to upper 80s.
By Wednesday the heat and humidity begin to crank as temperatures begin to approach 90. A weak front will approach for the afternoon that may trigger an isolated thunderstorm. After that it turn even hotter on Thursday as much of the region climbs into the low 90s. A couple more fronts will enter New England for Friday & Saturday which looks to create another threat for a developing shower or thunderstorm, but again this does not look to be a wide spread coverage as they may tend to be scattered about. Finally a cold front comes in Sunday morning that will bring a broader coverage area of thunderstorms and then as skies clear for the afternoon less humid air will return.
One final and VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY thought to keep in mind as the high heat and humidity return. NEVER take your pets for a ride in the car to the store or to run quick errands where you have to leave them in the car! Even with the windows open about two inches and a visible breeze outside on just an 80 degree day, the inside cockpit of your vehicle will not experience the breeze and the temperature will rise to a stifling 110 degrees in 15-20 minutes! NEVER LEAVE KIDS OR PETS IN A CAR! Remember your pet can not perspire and serious injury or death can result within 25-30 minutes! This same holds true for infants and children left in the car. Especially, if you are a new parent whenever you put your child in the car/van make sure you leave something (like a wallet, pocketbook or purse) in the back seat that you absolutely will need to take with you upon getting out of your vehicle so that you don’t forget that you have a child in the back. Some kids tend to fall asleep during drives and you can forget they are there. Also, if your car is parked in your driveway, LOCK IT so that the kids don’t climb in to try to play in it. And if you are putting your child in a car seat in a vehicle that has been in the sun for a while make sure you check those metal buckles to make sure they are not too hot for when you go to buckle the kids in!
Have a great and safe week!
