NH1 First Alert Weather: Hottest Day of the Year
NH1 Chief Meteorologist
Well, it may not be the hottest day yet at 1 PM in the afternoon...but it is heading there! I expect temperatures to be climbing to near 93-95 degrees in numerous spots this afternoon with a light west wind under a strong upper level ridge. Lwr 90's even at the beach and across the Lakes. An amazing summer day outside! Even the humidity/dewpoints which can be a spoiler and make the heat feel even hotter is at moderate levels right now with dewpoints in the 50's and Lwr 60's
We are going to be moving into a very unsettled pattern the next few days. A very typical summer time pattern with building humidity, and periodic afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Storms will have the potential for some heavy rain at times. Temperatures will begin to cool with the increased cloud cover & showers. The main weather maker will be a back door front which will push from Maine through New Hampshire and into NY state. Winds will shift be shifting onshore with 70's at the coast, and 80's father inland. Saturday could end up being much cooler with a low tracking on a stalled front south of New England with periodic showers, drizzle and clouds and highs in the 60's and Lwr 70's. We will have all the details on NH1 News today at 5, 6, & 10 PM. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth while it lasts for now!
