NH1 First Alert Weather: Hot, humid start to the week

Source: NH1 Meteorologist

The next two days will be hot and humid, but a brief break from the heat and humidity is in sight this week.

Sunday will start off with more clouds and perhaps a scattered shower or thunderstorm. Then we will find increasing sunshine for the midday and afternoon. Another scattered shower or thunderstorm cannot be ruled out Sunday afternoon, but most of the time will be dry. A seabreeze will keep temperatures near the coast closer to 80 while inland areas warm to between 85 and 90.

Overnight, expect a partly cloudy night with lows in the 60s early Monday.

Humidity will increase during the day on Monday. It'll be a hazy, hot and humid day with highs in the upper 80s in central/northern New Hampshire, and highs in between 90 and 95 in southern New Hampshire. In the Manchester and Nashua area, it could feel like the upper 90s at times Monday afternoon due to the combination of heat and humidity.

A cold front will move into the state later Monday. Scattered thunderstorms will move into northern and western New Hampshire during the afternoon. By Monday evening, these storms will likely move into southern and eastern New Hampshire. A few of these storms could be strong with frequent lightning, torrential downpours, and strong wind gusts. The front will pass through the area Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

Any lingering clouds or showers will depart early Tuesday. Expect clearing skies with drier air arriving during the day. It will feel more comfortable by afternoon due to the lower humidity. Highs on Tuesday will be in the lower to middle 80s.

Wednesday will be a quiet, delightful day with lots of sunshine. Lighter winds will allow a stronger seabreeze to develop close to the coast, where temperatures will be held in the 70s. Inland highs will be around or just over 80 degrees.

The milder weather won't last long. High pressure will begin to move offshore on Thursday. A return flow out of the southwest will bring the heat and humidity right back into the Granite State. High temperatures on Thursday will approach 90 in southern New Hampshire with increasing humidity. At this time, both Friday and Saturday look hazy, hot, and humid with high temperatures in the 90s once again.
