NH1 First Alert Weather: Cooler Times Ahead
NH1 Chief Meteorologist
A few clouds may start to the day on Friday. Skies will gradually clear during the morning hours. We may even see a few morning rain or snow showers in the mountains. Expect fairly brisk northwest winds during the day with high temps from the upper 30s to mid 40s north and mid 40s to lwr 50s south.
High pressure will crest over the region Friday night and will shift southeast of the region after midnight as a trough of low pressure approaches from the northwest. After a mostly clear evening, look for increasing clouds after midnight and possibly a few flurries toward daybreak. Lows will range from the mid 20s to lower 30s.
Cyclonic northwest flow at the surface & aloft continues through the weekend keeping sunshine and building clouds with the heating of the day. Cool temperatures will dominate across the region all weekend, with highs in the 40's to near 50. A few scattered rain and snow showers are expected in the upslope favored mountain areas. A weak cold front will push through late Saturday night. This will come with a reinforcing push of cooler air for Sunday with highs mostly in the 40's with a cooler breeze from the NNW.
By Monday, the large broad surface & upper ridge across the midwest is shifting east into the Northeast. This will mean dry weather with sunny days and clear nights Monday through Wednesday with milder temperatures returning with high climbing well into the 50's.
